I grew up in Hawke’s Bay surrounded by pets and heaps of foster children that my parents kept collecting. When I turned 18, I moved to Palmy, where I worked as a microbiology technician, and started my gathering my collection of pets. Somehow it didn’t scare my husband off, and we added in two children to our brood over the years. I home-schooled my kids, and various part-time jobs kept me busy. Our family has been trying to live more sustainably on our small farm. As the children got older, I wanted a challenge, something community focused. I ended up turning up to help make cheese rolls at a Just Zilch fundraiser and never left. I love being busy and learning new things. Now I get to hang with a lot of amazing people, and collectively we get to do amazing things for the community and the environment!
